Dr. Ignacio Torres has a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Valencia (2013) and he performed the specialized training in Microbiology and Parasitology (2015-2019) in the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia. In 2022, he obtained the title of Doctor in Medicine with a grade of outstanding Cum Laude from the University of Valencia. Ignacio Torres his research career in the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia after obtaining a “Río Hortega” scholarship (2021-2023) being part of the Research Group called on Molecular Microbiology and Microbial Pathogenesis led by Prof. David Navarro. He has actively collaborated in different research lines that cover topics from the study of Cytomegalovirus and Torque Teno Virus in patients who underwent an allogenic hematopoietic precursor transplantation, and the SARS-CoV-2 infection, to the optimization of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry in the hospital environment. All of this has allowed him to participate in the publication of more than 50 scientific articles in high impact international journals and being part of the research group in a competitive project funded by the Carlos III Health Institute. Currently he holds a “Joan Rodés” grant. Additionally, he has worked as microbiologist adviser for Igenomix and as microbiologist in the Marina Salud Hospital of Denia.
