Dr. Víctor Marcos Garcés is a cardiologist, graduate and Doctor in Medicine by the University of Valencia. After completing his training as a Medical Intern Resident (MIR) at the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia, he was granted a Rio Hortega grant and currently holds a Juan Rodés grant, both awarded in a competitive call by the Carlos III Health Institute for the consolidation of clinical research personnel in the Science and Technology System of the Spanish state. He obtained the Accreditation in General Cardiology from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and has shown special interest in clinical and preventive cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, and cardiac imaging techniques, pursuing postgraduate university training in these areas. In January 2022, he initiated the Post-Myocardial Infarction Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia. He has extensive research experience, emphasizing various aspects of cardiac imaging techniques (especially cardiac magnetic resonance), basic and translational research, and in recent years, preventive cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation. He has published 47 articles in scientific journals (half of them in first decile or quartile journals) and 15 book chapters based on clinical cases. He has presented more than 150 abstracts at scientific congresses (over 50 of them international) and has attended over 50 scientific congresses, symposiums, and conferences, participating as an organizer in 6 local and national scientific congresses and symposiums. He has participated in 8 competitive research projects, being the principal investigator in two of them, such as the one aimed at Emerging Research Groups granted by the Ministry of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society of the Generalitat Valenciana (CIGE/2022/26), which analyzes the usefulness of cardiac magnetic resonance for precision medicine in patients after an acute myocardial infarction. Additionally, he has worked in the Pathology Department of the University of Valencia and enjoyed an INTRO (Introduction to Research) scholarship at the Institute of Biomedicine of Valencia (IBV), part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Dr. Víctor Marcos Garcés has received several recognitions throughout his career, such as the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the University of Valencia, the 2022 Best PhD Thesis Award from the international journal “Journal of Clinical Medicine,” the Final Residency Award, and the García Blanco Medal-Award in its 42nd edition, given in recognition of the scientific work of young researchers in the areas of Science and Biomedicine, as well as different awards to abstracts presented at national and international conferences and articles published in scientific journals.
