After finishing her specialty in Cardiology, PhD. Clara Bonanad received a Rio Hortega contract to expand her research training. This allowed her to combine an active care activity, based on the care of patients with acute coronary syndrome, with training in clinical and translational research, developing her doctoral thesis on the prognostic impact of geriatric syndromes in patients with acute coronary syndrome, obtaining the distinction “cum laude”. She has completed a Master’s Degree in Advances in Cardiology and a Master’s Degree in Acute Cardiac Care. She has been the principal investigator of several clinical trials in the field of cardiovascular risk in patients with high-risk acute coronary syndrome (SOLIST, SCORED, THEMIS trial) as well as two competitive projects focused on translational research related to acute myocardial infarction: a Project for Emerging Groups of the Generalitat Valenciana (File GV/2018/116) and a FIS project of the Carlos III Health Institute (PI20/00637). All of this has allowed her to initiate a line of research focused on studying the impact of geriatric syndromes and residual cardiovascular risk, specifically dyslipidemia and inflammation, in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome. During her time as a researcher at this institution, she has collaborated in the publication of 86 articles in high-impact journals (D1 and Q1), as well as more than 30 communications in congresses and is directing 4 Doctoral Theses. She is currently Associate Professor of the Department of Medicine of the University of Valencia, specifically she belongs to the faculty responsible for simulation practices and has directed 4 TFG of the Degree in Medicine. In addition, she has been President of the Geriatric Cardiology section of the Spanish Society of Cardiology as well as a member of the board of directors of the Group of Young Cardiologists and a member of the Ischemic Heart Disease section of the Valencian Society of Cardiology.
