Dr. Jaime Marco Algarra is an Otorhinolaryngology professor at University of Valencia and head of the Otorhinolaryngology Service of the Clinical University Hospital of Valencia. He trained as a resident in the otorhinolaryngology service at the Clinical University Hospital of Valencia and obtained his PhD in May of 1983 with his dissertation ´Contacto de los Cilios de las Células Ciliadas del órgano de Corti con la Membrana Tectoria’. In 1983, he gained a Fulbright scholarship to carry out a research project on the automatic and objective recording of eye movement velocity in Macacus Rhesus at the Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Service of Los Angeles Central Hospital at the University of California (UCLA) under the direction of Vicente Honrubia, director of the Research Unit, and Rafale Lorente de No, visiting professor at the Rockefeller Institute. In 1989 obtained a scholarship from Regional Ministry for Health of the Valencian Government to develop a research project at the same center, UCLA, about ‘The Neuroanatomy of the Efferent Vestibular System’. He published 36 articles about Otology and Otoneurology on international journals ranked in the first quartile. That have been referee of Otorhinolaryngology like Laryngoscope, Acta OtoRhinoLaryngologica of Stockholm, European Journal of OtoRhinoLaryngology, and Otology and Neurotology. He has been president of the Spanish Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery, of the American Academy of Otorhinolaringology and is a member of Collegium Oto Rhino Laringologicum Amicie Sacrum (CORLAS). Currently, he is a member of the European Advisory Board on Active Osseointegrated Auditive Implants.
