Dr. Badenes studied at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia (1995-2001), obtaining the title of specialist in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care via MIR at the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia in 2006. He received his PhD from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2011 and obtained the Master’s Degree in Clinical Trials from the University of Valencia in 2016. Since 2022 he has been Head of Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Clinic at the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia. He has been Hospital Transplant Coordinator of the Hospital itself since 2016, Sectorial Transplant Coordinator and responsible for the mobile ECMO program for transplants in the Valencian Community since 2017, and since 2023, the Director of the Trasplant Program of the Valencian Community. He has been Full Professor in the Department of Surgery since 2020, serving as the Secretary of the Department of Surgery at the University of Valencia and Coordinator of the Teaching Unit of Anesthesiology and Critical Care. He coordinates two core subjects in the Medical Degree program at the University of Valencia. His expertise stands out as a certified instructor in major international courses in the field, such as ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support), ETC (European Trauma Course), and FCCS (Fundamental Critical Care Support). He is a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Allied Sciences of the Valencian Community. Additionally, he obtained the European Diploma in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care in 2014 by the ESAIC (European Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care), being an examiner for this Diploma since 2016. His research activity has been carried out in parallel to his clinical activity, putting into practice translational research in the field of neurocritical care, organ donation, and transplantation. In this regard, his involvement in more than 100 national and international projects as both principal investigator and sub-investigator. He has completed fellowships in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Erasme Hospital of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and Policlinico Umberto I at Sapienza University of Rome. He is very involved with the main national and international Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Scientific Societies. His role as Spanish representative in the NeuroIntensive Care section of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine stands out. He is an elected member of the European Council for Organ Donation and Transplantation Within the editorial activity, he is a member of the Editorial Board of indexed journals in the field of anesthesiology and intensive care and a reviewer for high-impact journals, not only in anesthesiology and intensive care but also in some of the highest impact journals worldwide, such as The Lancet. He has 170 publications in the most prestigious indexed journals in his field, with a total of 9,200 citations and a cumulative impact factor exceeding 1,500. His h-index is 37.
