  1. Experimental studies on the protective effect against arrhythmic vulnerability. Modifications of the signaling pathways involved in mechanoelectric coupling and activated in situations of mechanical stretch and metabolic overload.
  2. New therapeutic targets related to: a) calcium homeostasis; b) renin angiotensin aldosterone system/neprilysin inhibition; c) common nodes in the signaling pathways (CaMKII) and d) transmembrane ionic currents.
  3. Study of the mechanisms involved in the deterioration of the systolic function, fibrosis and the inducibility of arrhythmias in an experimental model of myocardial infarction.
  4. Study of electrophysiological modifications and inducibility of cardiac arrhythmias in an experimental model of metabolic syndrome
