The Research Group on Tissular Biochemistry is affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Valencia (Medicine Section) and has been part of INCLIVA since its creation. Although the research profile of the group primarily falls under the areas of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, it is an interdisciplinary group with expertise in various fields within Biomedicine, such as Endocrinology, Metabolism, Cell Biology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Anatomy, and Pharmacology. Over the years, the group’s different research lines have been aimed at comprehensively understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying various pathophysiological processes in animal models or cultured cells. The approach followed by the group to achieve these objectives has evolved over time and continues to progress, from studying the regulation of individual gene expression to investigating networks and their regulatory nodes in different tissues. This approach, which ranges from identifying signals that trigger a primary response to the final output that determines the specific phenotype of the tissue, has allowed for a more precise and integrated understanding of a specific functional program. This considerably broader approach also includes identifying factors that could potentially be targets for new drugs in various pathologies or their use as prognostic biomarkers.
